Our "free" API key returned 429. Incident lasted for 5 minutes.

Resolved This issue did not affect paying customers. This issue only affected users trialing Upload using the API key "free" — our sandbox/demo API key — and resulted in those file uploads returning an HTTP status code of 429 (for 5 minutes). We've since increased the upload limit for this key.
